We often live in increasingly crowded cities, where life moves at a frenetic pace. And although current technology tries to sell us the idea of “connection” that should make us feel less alone, in reality we are increasingly isolated, each lost in our own devices.
But, paradoxically, we are surrounded by people, human beings like us, with feelings like ours, needs like ours.
Do we ever make an effort to think about those around us? Who are all these people? They have thoughts like ours, problems like ours. Do they feel better or worse than us?
We know so little that each of them could mean our happiness in life. We let them pass us by without ever considering them, when a glance, a smile, a moment of real life could completely change our course. We remain anchored to virtual loops that consume our lives, deluding ourselves into thinking we are going faster, when in actuality we are just standing still, like animals tied to a colored rope, running endlessly around their pole.
